Symphony 2: Swinging Candlelight

Battle Creek Symphony
Saturday, November 7, 2026, 7:30 pm

WK Kellogg Auditorium

Georgiy Borisov, clarinet

Candlelight sets the stage as swing fills the hall. Georgiy Borisov joins the Battle Creek Symphony for Benny Goodman’s Moonglow and Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, blending jazz energy with classical brilliance. Tap your toes, sway to the rhythms, and let the music carry you into a night of elegance and fun.

  • Benny Goodman commissioned the Copland Clarinet Concerto, as well as gave the first performance of the piece in a radio broadcast with the NBC Symphony Orchestra.
  • "Lullaby" is considered Gershwin's first serious piece of music that he wrote.
