Jonathan Hayes

GUITAR (Studio full at this time)

Jon joined The Music Center in 2022. While a multi-instrumentalist, guitar and vocals captured his heart at an early age. He began playing guitar and writing music at age 11 and shares his talents with students of all levels today. His goal is to pass along his love of guitar so that students can develop their own musical relationships — and find their ‘voice’ with this beautiful, classic instrument. Jon has played and sung in numerous contexts and settings over the years, including original rock bands, worship teams, a wedding band, and even touring across the Midwest and Northeast for concerts featuring his music as an acoustic singer-songwriter solo act. Through all these experiences, the guitar has been his faithful companion and stage-worthy friend to lean on. “It’s one of the most honest relationships I’ve had, in an emotional sense, and sometimes more straightforward than the ones I’ve had with people,” he explains. The guitar is also his preferred instrument when writing his songs, which is a highly personal experience. “Once you establish the basics and find what makes your heart and mind move, it’s a powerful platform for emotional expression and can be a real support,” Jon reflects. A favorite musical memory of Jon’s was going on a self-made tour down and up the East Coast, playing open mics with no official plan. “I was 19, and my two friends in my band were 19 and 23,” he adds. “We had no plan ahead of time, no shows booked, no hotels reserved. We just went out on the road and figured it all out for seven days playing wherever we could. Jon is a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School, West Newbury, Massachusetts, and Word of Life Bible Institute, Schroon Lake, New York. In his personal life, he enjoys taking it easy, going out to a good restaurant and relaxing on the couch with his wife, and a good movie. He also loves seeing live shows and exploring a new city with a good friend.
