Since 1996, the Community Music School has helped students of all ages and skill levels across Calhoun, Branch, and Kalamazoo counties pursue their musical dreams. The Community Music School offers a variety of music education, from one-on-one lessons and group classes to ensembles of all types. Learn to play the guitar as you’ve always dreamed about, take pleasure in singing, enjoy learning piano, embrace the violin... the options are unlimited!
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician, our talented instructors will help you get the most from your instrument to advance to the next level of expertise and enjoyment.

Music Center Lessons, Classes, and Ensembles
One-on-One Music Lessons
Enjoy one-on-one time with your favorite instructor to develop your musical talent. We offer individualized instruction on piano, voice, and stringed instruments such as violin, viola, cello, mandolin, guitar, and ukulele. In addition, you’ll find experienced instructors for trumpet, tuba, horn, flute, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, and more. Call for details and availability. We welcome students of all ages and all skill levels!
We welcome students of all ages and all skill levels! Enjoy one-on-one mentoring with an instructor to develop your musical talent. Lessons can run 25 minutes of 50 minutes depending on student need, age, and skill level.
One-on-One Lesson Tuition:
25 Minutes: $115 per month per student
50 minutes: $230 per month per student

Early Childhood Music
Music First!
Ages 0-5: Did you know, when babies are born, they possess the highest musical aptitude they will ever have? Early music exposure will prepare your baby or child for later musical development. Our Music First program is based on the Gordon Music Learning Theory. You and your child will sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments during these weekly classes, building a solid foundation for later music. Various times, locations, and days are offered for your convenience.
Music First Tuition:
10-week sessions: $150 per student
6-week sessions: $90 per student
$16 Drop-in class fee per student

Music Classes
Group classes are affordable and fun. You’ll enjoy the camaraderie of other students working towards a common goal. Classes offered change throughout the year so check back often to see what’s new.
Recorder Class:
Ages 6-10: Our Recorder Class is the perfect follow-up for Music First, or for those seeking an introductory experience to specified music training. Class members will learn note reading and rhythms, ear training, and technique, building a solid foundation for private music instruction.
10-week sessions: $150 per student
6-week sessions: $90 per student
